The College of Wisconsin System board emerged from a shut doorway conference Friday to announce it has unanimously chosen Milwaukee legal professional and law organization CEO Jay Rothman as the system’s eighth president.

The board’s preference of Rothman above Jim Schmidt, the chancellor of UW-Eau Claire, puts the technique for the first time less than the direction of an individual who is almost entirely an outsider to the environment of community greater schooling.

“I am humbled by the prospect to direct the UW Technique, and approach this position with profound respect for the unparalleled role public larger instruction performs in the lives of our students, alumni, and communities,” Rothman mentioned. “I intend to direct by listening very first, so that the expertise I have gained over my life time in Wisconsin can support us develop a great UW Program with each other. This is not an original sentiment, but I want to say it simply because I imagine it: the UW Process is our state’s crown jewel, and a vivid UW Method builds a robust Wisconsin.”
